We took the Tesla on a roadtrip from Los Angeles to Zion National Park, where there are ZERO Tesla superchargers in or around Zion National Park. Therefore, we had to prepare ahead! Some hotels have Tesla destination chargers, however ours did not. In this post, I’ll go over my full itinerary for our Tesla roadtrip.

Day 1 (Los Angeles, CA -> Las Vegas, NV)
Duration: 4 hours
Distance: 236 miles
Stop 1: Barstow Tesla Supercharger, CA
- There are actually 2 Tesla Superchargers near each other in Barstow, CA
- Ayres Barstow:
- 16 Tesla superchargers
- 150kW
- Bathrooms: Starbucks (walking distance)
- Outlets at Barstow:
- 20 Tesla superchargers (with more to come), multiple Tesla destination chargers (much slower but free)
- 250 kW
- Bathrooms: Outlets (opens at 10AM)
Stop #2: Linq Tesla Supercharger
- 24 Tesla superchargers
- 250kW
- Bathrooms: The Linq Promenade
- WARNING: Beware, many Tesla owners have issues with being charged an additional $25 fee (despite parking less than 1 hour). Make sure to input the code first (found on Tesla navigation screen), wait, and then press the button for ticket. Also, there are additional parking fees if you stay more than 1 hour, so be aware.
Instructions to Park at Tesla Linq Supercharger to avoid extra parking fee:
- Input Linq Tesla Supercharger into Tesla Navigation
- Locate gate code on Tesla navigation screen
- Input code onto keypad
- Wait until machine says “Press button for ticket”
- Press button for ticket
- Stay for <1 hour
Eat & Play!
There are so many dining options in Las Vegas, but I am a big Gordon Ramsay fan, so we ate Gordon Ramsay Burger in Planet Hollywood. You can walk-in, but be aware there may be a line. Also, parking is NOT free.
Day 2 (Las Vegas, NV -> Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah)
Duration: 3 hours (excluding 1 hour difference)
Distance: 164 miles
Stop 1: St George Tesla Supercharger, Utah
- 10 Tesla Superchargers
- 150 kW
- Bathrooms: Starbucks. First Watch (great brunch spot!)
NOTE: There are ZERO Tesla superchargers by Zion National Park. So I recommend charging to 100% at St George, UT.
- It took a while for us to charge to 100%, ~1hr 15 minutes because of a combination of factors (high usage, excessive heat, slower charging)
- For our trip to Zion, we were in our long range Tesla model Y (max 320 miles at 100%), and did not run out of range. We charged to 100% at St George, UT, went down to 70% in Springdale (picked up rental gear), 60% Virgin river (hotel), 50% Zion National Park, and 20% when we returned to St George to charge.
Stop 2: Springdale, Utah
- Zion Guru: We stopped here to pick up rental equipment for the Zion Narrows Hike the next day. I love the Zion Narrows Hike as it is so unique, beautiful and adventurous!
- Zion Pizza & Noodle: We grabbed some Pizza’s from Zion Pizza and Noodle for dinner
Stop 3: Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Virgin Zion National Park – Virgin, Utah
- This hotel is a ~15 minute drive from Zion National Park, therefore it is more reasonably priced compared to hotels that are closer.
- Pros:
- Cheaper compared to hotels 5 minutes away from Zion National Park entrance
- Relatively newer hotel
- Good for groups: 2 king beds available in 1 room
- Water bottle refill station – perfect to fill up hydropacks for hiking
- Cons
- 15 minutes away from park entrance
- No EV charging available yet
- No nearby restaurants (closest is ~15 minutes away in Springdale, UT)
Day 3 (Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah)

Alternatively, our friends chose to drive back to Las Vegas (3 hours) after hiking the Narrows, which is an option as well, but may be tiring.
Day 4 (Virgin Utah -> Orange County, CA)
Duration: 7-8 hours
Distance: 417 miles
TIP: Leave EARLY if you want to avoid traffic, especially if you’re leaving on a Sunday. I recommend trying to be out of Las Vegas by 7AM.
Stop 1: Mesquite Tesla Supercharger, UT
- 12 Tesla superchargers
- 250kW
- Restrooms: Casablanca resort
- 10 Tesla superchargers (*they are building more!)
- 150kW
- Restrooms: McDonald’s, Primm Valley Resort & Casino
