Questions for your delivery guide

  • Can I inspect the vehicle inside and out before paying in the app?
  • If I reject this VIN, am I placed back in line for another one?
  • What is covered if I notice fit and finish defects after delivery?
  • What is the maximum mileage or time window to submit fit and finish service requests?
  • Was any repair, adjustment, harness work, paint/body work, or diagnostic work performed before delivery?

Before You Arrive

  • Rivian app installed, updated, and signed in
  • Driver’s license ready

  • Compare panel spacing from front to rear
  • Inspect upper-door/roof trim alignment
  • Confirm adjoining trim pieces line up evenly

  • Look for scratches where doors meet adjacent body panels

Rivian Side Marker / Logo

  • Activate turn signal
  • Confirm side Rivian logo/marker lighting behaves correctly

Door Handles

  • Driver-rear handle sits evenly
  • Handles present correctly when vehicle unlocks
  • Walk away from R2
  • Confirm handles retract
  • Approach again

  • Confirm Rivian Torch is physically present if included with your trim/configuration

Manual Door Releases

Front

  • Locate front manual/emergency interior release
  • Gently confirm its operation

Rear

  • Locate rear emergency-release wire behind its trim/plastic cover
  • Confirm you know how to access it in an emergency

 

CHARGE PORT

  • Inspect charge-port door while closed
  • Door sits flush
  • Spacing looks even around all edges
  • Open charge-port door
  • Close charge-port door
  • Repeat several times
  • Door does not scrape bodywork
  • Inspect NACS inlet
  • No debris
  • No bent/damaged components
  • Charge-port indicator light works

STOP 3 — REAR

Body & Liftgate

  • Inspect liftgate
  • Inspect rear bumper
  • Inspect both rear quarter panels
  • Inspect lower rear trim
  • Compare rear bumper color with driver-side quarter panel
  • Compare rear bumper color with passenger-side quarter panel
  • Check liftgate alignment before opening

Liftgate Operation

  • Open liftgate using exterior button under the V
  • Open liftgate using center display
  • Close liftgate
  • Repeat operation several times
  • Confirm full latch
  • No grinding
  • No straining
  • No abnormal noises

Rear Drop Glass

  • Lower using exterior control
  • Raise using exterior control

Repeat the driver-side inspection.

Gear Guard

  • Open Gear Guard
  • Confirm Gear Guard loads without errors
  • Review available camera/security controls
  • Insert your USB stick or SanDisk Extreme 1 TB SSD into a supported USB-C data port
  • Confirm the vehicle recognizes the storage device
  • Enable/configure Drive Cam or available Gear Guard storage functions
  • Confirm no storage error appears

Important: External Drive Cam / Incident Cam storage is owner supplied. Do not expect a USB drive to be included unless specifically listed with your delivery.

Key Cards

J1772 AC Adapter

  • J1772 adapter present if included/listed on your order
  • Inspect adapter for damage

Use: Compatible J1772 Level 2 AC charging only.

CCS1 DC Adapter

  • CCS1 adapter present if included/listed on your order
  • Inspect adapter for damage

Use: Compatible CCS1 DC fast charging only.

Rivian Portable Charger

If included/listed:

  • Portable Charger present
  • Cable is undamaged
  • Included plug adapters are present
  • Inspect connectors for damage

STOP 8 — SHORT DRIVE

Before Moving

  • No battery warning
  • No brake warning
  • No suspension warning
  • No drive-system warning
  • No camera warning
  • No safety warning

Low Speed

Turn the audio off.

  • Drive slowly
  • Listen for clicking
  • Listen for scraping
  • Listen for clunking
  • Listen for rubbing
  • Make several left turns
  • Make several right turns
  • Make U-turns where safe
  • Test brakes at a safe speed
  • Test regenerative braking

Steering & Alignment

  • Steering wheel appears centered
  • R2 tracks straight on a level road
  • No steering-wheel vibration
  • No significant vibration through seats
  • No significant vibration through floor

Normal Road Speed

  • Listen for excessive wind noise
  • Listen for door rattles
  • Listen for dashboard rattles
  • Listen for seat rattles
  • Listen for liftgate rattles

After Parking

  • Check displays again for new warnings
  • Look underneath R2 for leaks
  • Check for unusual smells

CHARGING CHECK

Level 2 Charging

When practical:

  • Connect to compatible Level 2 charger
  • R2 begins charging without an error
  • Charge-port light indicates session
  • Vehicle display shows session
  • Rivian app shows session
  • Stop charging session
  • Connector releases normally
  • Close charge-port door
  • Recheck charge-port alignment

J1772 Test

If adapter is included:

  • Connect J1772 adapter
  • Connect compatible Level 2 charger
  • Confirm AC charging begins
  • Confirm no charging error
  • Stop session
  • Remove adapter normally

CCS1 Test

If adapter is included and practical:

  • Inspect adapter
  • Connect at a compatible CCS1 DC fast charger
  • Confirm DC fast charging begins
  • Confirm session appears in vehicle/app
  • Stop session normally

Native NACS / Tesla Supercharging

  • Use Rivian navigation to locate a compatible Tesla Supercharger
  • Navigate to charger
  • Plug native NACS connector directly into R2
  • Confirm fast charging begins
  • Check charge rate
  • Confirm app shows session
  • Stop session
  • Connector releases normally

The R2 has a native NACS port, so compatible Tesla Superchargers do not require an adapter.

TRAIL SIDE QUEST
