Pricing & Specs

The Lucid Air PURE, is the lowest priced Lucid, starting at $77,400. The base model offers 419 miles of range and accelerates from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds. For an extra $5,000, the AWD dual motor variant boasts 410 miles of range and a quicker 0-60 time of 3.8 seconds. Notably, Lucid’s efficiency, achieving over 4 miles per 1 kWh of energy, outshines Tesla’s Model S.

Tesla’s Model S is currently priced at $74,990,and comes standard with AWD and dual motors. It offers a range of 405 miles, slightly less than Lucid Air PURE. However, with a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds, it’s faster and currently cheaper by almost ~$3,000.

Exterior Design

Before diving into the aesthetics, it’s essential to address the notorious build quality of Tesla. Recent improvements have enhanced the overall build of the Model S, with sleek design, perfect gaps, and minimal issues.

The Model S boasts distinctive features, including bright daytime running lights and matrix LED lights. With a width of 86.4 inches and almost 198 inches in length, it has a solid, aggressive look. Autopilot cameras, soft-close doors, and a well-placed charge port add to its appeal.

On the other hand, the Lucid Air PURE impresses with its unique design. The LED bar dance during unlocking is a premium touch. The five projectors and bright auto high beams provide excellent visibility. The car’s aerodynamic design, flowing lines, and long LED bars in the front and rear create a sleek and mature appearance. The Lucid is slightly smaller in size compared to the Model S but offers a distinct style that caters to a more mature audience.

Seating and Comfort

The Tesla Model S boasts a minimalist yet comfortable interior, offering ample headroom at 39.7 inches and a single-piece glass roof for an open and airy feel. With 58.4 inches of shoulder room, the cabin provides a spacious ambiance. Comfort features include heated and cooled seats with lumbar support, wood accents, and Alcantara details. The modern aesthetic is accentuated by the yoke steering wheel, a 17-inch touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch center screen. The doors feature touch-sensitive buttons, adding to the sleek design.

On the other hand, the Lucid Air PURE emphasizes a premium and elegant interior design. The giant 34-inch 5k curved display dominates the dashboard, creating a luxurious atmosphere. While lacking a glass roof, the PURE model compensates with ample headroom at 39.6 inches. Shoulder room matches the Model S at 58.3 inches. The interior features metal and fabric accents, an iPad-sized center screen that folds for extra storage, and heated front seats. Subtle Lucid branding and faux leather contribute to the overall aesthetic.

Rear Seating and Space

In the rear, the Tesla Model S provides 38.1 inches of headroom, thanks to the glass roof. Rear passengers enjoy features like LED lights, heated seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen for climate control and entertainment, along with ample storage and cup holders.

Meanwhile, the Lucid Air PURE offers slightly less headroom at 37.8 inches but compensates with innovative rear door design, providing extra space for passengers to comfortably enter and exit. Rear amenities include cup holders, two USB ports, a large storage area, and additional heated seats.

Technology and Infotainment

Tesla’s infotainment system stands out for frequent updates and user-friendly features. The driver enjoys a large display with zero lag, visualizations for cones, people, and cars, and various entertainment options. Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self Driving features provide advanced driving assistance.

On the Lucid side, the infotainment system focuses on intuitive design and functionality. The 34-inch curved display offers a visually stunning experience, featuring Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and facial recognition. Equipped with advanced sensors, lasers, and radar, the Lucid Air PURE paves the way for future autonomous driving capabilities.

Phone App

In the realm of electric vehicles, the importance of a seamless and feature-rich app cannot be overstated. Tesla’s app takes the lead, receiving frequent updates that enhance user experience. With Tesla’s app, you have comprehensive control over the entire car – from remote starting and climate activation to checking charging locations and adjusting charge limits. It stands out as arguably the best app in the entire car market.

Lucid, while not surpassing Tesla, offers a well-developed app. Users can control climate settings, flash lights, honk the horn, open the trunk or frunk, set charge limits, locate nearby chargers, and even check the last known tire pressure. Lucid’s app provides a user-friendly interface with essential functionalities.

Cargo Space

Cargo space is a critical aspect of any car review, and electric vehicles should ideally excel in this area. The Tesla Model S sets a standard with a front trunk (frunk) offering 3.1 cubic feet of space. However, the Lucid Air PURE claims superiority with an impressive frunk providing a staggering 10 cubic feet of space – a substantial advantage over the Model S.

Moving to the rear, the Model S boasts 25 cubic feet of space with the seats up, featuring automatic lift and additional storage areas. Lucid Air PURE, while slightly smaller at 22 cubic feet, compensates with innovative design elements, such as a lower clearance for easier loading.

In the driving experience, Tesla’s adaptive suspension shines. The Model S offers adaptive height control, automatically adjusting the car’s height for optimal driving conditions. With multiple height settings and nimble handling, the Model S provides a dynamic and comfortable driving experience. The acceleration aligns with the expectations of electric cars – fast, quick, and exhilarating.

Lucid Air PURE lacks adaptive suspension, but compensates with a smoother ride. Its regenerative braking system rivals Tesla’s, providing efficient deceleration. While lacking the Model S’s adaptive suspension, the Lucid Air PURE’s handling impresses, absorbing bumps and potholes seamlessly. Lucid’s version of full self-driving, although currently limited to highways, showcases advanced hardware with lidar, cameras, sensors, and radar.

Charging infrastructure is crucial for electric vehicles, and Tesla’s Supercharger network is a standout feature. Tesla’s app seamlessly integrates with Superchargers, providing users with real-time information and easy navigation. Lucid, while gaining access to Tesla Superchargers in 2025, faces challenges in providing detailed on-screen information due to third-party limitations. However, it does support bi-directional charging, allowing users to charge other electric vehicles or use the Lucid to power their home.

In conclusion, both the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air PURE have their respective strengths and weaknesses. Tesla impresses with its technology, Supercharger network, and established reputation. Lucid, on the other hand, offers a compelling alternative with its luxurious interior, innovative design, and growing charging infrastructure.

Choosing between the two depends on individual preferences. Tesla enthusiasts might appreciate the familiarity and technological prowess, while those seeking a fresh, premium experience may find the Lucid Air PURE intriguing. With both vehicles available at a similar price point, the decision becomes a matter of personal priorities and preferences. Whether it’s the proven Tesla technology or the alluring elegance of Lucid, the electric car market continues to offer exciting options for discerning consumers.
